As she opened the small black half-rusted gate, he stood there and watched. Everything was blank. Only the image of her opening the gate and passing through it remained. He backed up, slowly, still watching the gate, mind still blank. A flicker of hope- he thought- From the dark and deep crevices of her mind, a surge of emotion rushed through her and she ran back to the gate. He was still there. Only, she wasn't. She had passed through a few minutes earlier and he was still backing up. He retreated slowly, unsure of what was to come next.
And then, the gate was no longer in view. As he went ahead, it poured. He couldn't see ahead. It began pouring in sheets and sheets. Oh! Not the rain. The tears.
He clutched tightly at the bag she had given him. But he couldn't stop crying. Then a hand came and took his hand. The hand guided him ahead. Still crying. She smiled at him. He tried to look back at the gate, but it was no longer in view. She made him sit on a chair. In one minute, there was an unfamiliar ring- a ring that he thought destroyed three and half years of moments he had spent with the one person he loved in this world.
It was his first day at School !!!!
